The SPA in England and Wales offers a
sponsorship scheme for five seminaries.
Donors who wish to provide the subsidy of
£500 per year for a seminarian’s final
four years of study become sponsors.
Sponsors are given the name of a seminarian and
asked to pray for him, and he for them.
They may also correspond if they wish. Parishes
and individuals are encouraged to take on the
sponsorship of a seminarian as part of their
Advent or Lenten programme.
Contributions to the SPA are allocated to
seminaries in mission dioceses throughout the
world according to need, with help offered to
each seminary according to the number of
students. This system of allocating funds helps
ensure that aid is distributed fairly and that
those who are most desperately in need receive
enough support.
